“For this image of the iconic El Cap, I stitched together eight frames of medium format film to create one huge panorama. I used my Mamiya 645AFD, 80mm ƒ2.8, and Portra 800 for each individual image, and the resulting panorama maintains all of that detail in a much wider field of view. I used two rolls of 120 film to do this process 3-4 times at different times of day, and this one was my favorite!”

“What I love about shooting film, especially medium format, is that it forces me to slow down and be highly intentional with every photo I take. With only ten shots per roll, 120 film trains my eye to find the best angles, wait patiently for the right lighting conditions, and create original compositions with each new scene. There’s so much more I could say about why I love film photography, but ultimately, what stands out most is how much it has taught me about becoming a better photographer and artist. Shooting film constantly challenges me to learn and grow from my mistakes, push creative boundaries, and emphasize quality over quantity.”

“I love the moment just before clicking the shutter button not knowing whether you’ve captured something almost perfect or not, it’s a gamble and it’s a rush, I love how connected you feel with the camera, how I just feel connected to the moments I shoot on it like this favourite frame of mine!”

“I shoot film because it forces me to slow down. No spraying shots, no checking the screen every two seconds. Just taking the time to actually look, feel, and wait. It makes me more present.
⠀
There’s also just something about the whole process. Loading a roll, hearing the shutter click, waiting for scans. It’s not perfect, but that’s kind of the point. It feels real.”
