“Everything in our modern world is so fast paced and ephemeral and I don’t think we take the enough time to really appreciate things. Its cliché to say, but I love shooting film because you CAN take your time. Further, the “challenges” of shooting film, such as cost per exposure, film sensitivity, shot limits, and camera limitations push us towards a greater level of artistic expression and technical proficiency. A more thoughtful approach to photo-taking - that’s why I love film.”

“I like shooting film for creative control of my images, choosing the perfect film stock and settings, and camera for a particular scene. Being able to capture the image I want with little to no post processing. The way it slows me down, and act more methodical in each frame. I love the tones, grain, and I love the limitations that come with film. Probably most of all, I love the film community ❤️.”

“Capturing glimpses of life on film feels to me like materializing the emotions of these very moments & having a haptic copy of these momentous emotions. No digital copy can provide such feeling, I guess. It’s like a tiny piece of your inner self burnt onto a tiny piece of celluloid.”

“I have been photographing ribbon race in Andalusia for two years, using a Rolleiflex and Kodak Tri-X. I like film for the unique atmosphere it creates, the grain (I often expose at 1600) and the fact that I have to shoot a little but shoot well!”
